THE HONORABLE JUDGE THOMAS J. GOVE, Commissioner of the inquiry into the adequacy of the services, policies, and practices of the Ministry of Social Services as they relate to the apparent neglect, abuse and death of Matthew John Vaudreuil, was quoted in 1995, as saying,
'The Judicial System is effectively ineffective in protecting children.'
RCMP Cpl. Jacques Drisdelle was quoted in 1995, as saying, in part, 'Politicians are expected to be accountable to the public, but Judges are not accountable to anyone under our system.
If the law is not enforced, disorder increases. There is no point in legislating anything that the courts are not prepared to enforce with deterrent sentences.'
Former Vancouver City Police Chief, Ray Canuel was quoted in 1995, as saying,'The Justice System is not working.
Criminals laugh at the system while the victims of crime continue to suffer.'
His name is Byron Prior, and he is our HERO.
He is the oldest living of 12 children and for forty years or more, he has never given up trying to find peace for himself and his family, and most importantly, he has never sold out on the TRUTH.
Byron gave full statements to the RCMP in Grand Banks on March 9, 1998.
Five years later, nothing has been done by the authorities to bring T. Alex Hickman or the other perpetrators to justice.
The Priors continue to suffer in silence.
Over the past two years, Byron has handed out over 4,000 flyers in his home town because the RCMP , the local, provincial and federal authorities have failed to investigate his reports of abuse, as they are mandated by law.Byron has been ostracized from his family, his community and places of employment.
He has suffered, and continues to suffer severe loss of income, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual trauma and his family suffers by his side.

[ My name is Byron Prior. I'm the oldest living of these 12 children. I not only had to live through my own abuse but, watch as the rest of my sisters and brothers were abused and raped.
Three of my sisters were raped: 1 by a grandfather at the age of 4, a second raped by
T. Alex Hickman, a former Justice Minister of Newfoundland, at age 11.
A third sister was raped by a young man in our home town. I asked the RCMP for help.
I asked grown-ups for help. I wrote letters. I made phone-calls. Now 40 years later, my family continues to suffer and nobody will help us. ]

CHAPTER 1.As the electrical cord came down upon her legs, she cowered in the corner, her cries and screams echoing in the vast Victorian house.
Her body wrenched with pain, the five year old had lived this nightmare many times before.
The ominous figure above her was there to protect her, and yet, the frail little girl found no comfort in the force of the beating she was receiving.
Her cries went unheard by her brothers and sisters, in fear for their own safety. For what seemed to be an eternity, the child endured the punishment doted out to her until finally, she slipped into unconsciousness.
When she came around, her brother Byron, just a few years older, was holding her in his arms rocking her back and forth. "Are you alright?" he questioned the little frail body that he was holding.
"My legs hurt really bad, Byron", as she answered through her tears.
[ Both Byron and myself have tried to have those in authority - RCMP, Social Services, Clergy and Teachers help us, but, our cries for help fell on deaf ears.We were, to them, a disposable family of liars and children with overactive imaginations. Nothing can make the nightmares go away. Even the sleeping pills don't work anymore. It has to end! There has to be justice and a sense of closure for all of us. Please, if we stop this cycle of insanity from happening to other innocent children, then maybe our lives would have not totally been in vain. You are our hope. Please help us to find justice.
